Something is going on in these paintings — but it is up to the viewer to figure it out. Bright colors,
along with stylized patterns, figures, and markings add to the mystery.

In this series, my aim was to capture the vibe of Miami. Fusing cultures, bright lights, and frenetic energy dominate the city – only to be tempered by the calming aqua-blue ocean. In some paintings, I used bright neon colors in juxtaposed patterns that were not quite symmetrical. Other paintings were more subdued by the use of grays and blue-greens that captured the calmness and force of the ocean.

The Abstract X Collection has no rules or straight lines, just pure emotion and energy. The paintings tell non-conceptual intuitive stories that are communicated on a deeper emotional level. The paintings in this series are surreal and exist somewhere between living and dreaming.

Artwork in this collection is made from wood, metal grating, and acrylic paint. I was inspired to make these mixed-media pieces after watching the colorful Mardi Gras parade in New Orleans. They were created in the spirit of the spirits.

In this series I experimented with color theory, geometry and point of reference. Some of the paintings were inspired by structural drawings of buildings I developed while working in the construction industry. A little bit of Zen exists in each painting.

Each painting in this series began with a few basic colors. I had no end purpose; instead, I focused on the process of applying paint to the canvas. Improvising, I added and subtracted colors while experimenting with textures and brushstrokes. When a piece finally came together, it was pure jazz – soft and smooth with a subtle beat.
